I’m the woman who works in the next office who you always thought had the perfect family. What you don’t know is that I see a domestic violence counselor at the YWCA on my lunch hour.

I’m the widow who moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in the nice house next door to you. What you don’t know is that my son-in-law is being abusive to me, and the YWCA hotline helped me make a safety plan in case I need to leave. 

I’m every woman…
I’m the woman in your church choir who always has a smile for everyone on Sunday morning.  What I’ll never tell you is that it took me years of counseling at the YWCA before I could move past being raped as a college student and learn to smile again.
